Hi, I just recently purchased a 1070 and the pto won't disengage. The cable is moving the valve on the side of trans.,but pto is still in gear even with tractor not running. How big of a job is this going to be? Any info is appreciated, cause like I said, I just got it and know nothing about it. Thanks Bob

If the shaft turns even when the pto is disengagedthe chances are good that the clutch plates in the pto clutch are warped which entails atotal rebuild of the clutch.

Turn the engine off and hook the PTO to something that pulls fairly hard. Start the engine and find out if the PTO is really on, or if it is just dragging. The brake has been shot on my 970 for years. With the PTO off the pump on my sprayer pumps 20 psi. With it on it pumps 60. Good Luck

Hi, I haven't hooked it up,but I should be able to turn the shaft by hand with the tractor not running, at least I can on my other tractors. Thanks Bob,

The PTO is hydraulicly actuated on the 70 series. With the engine turned off it will be disengaged. The manual stop brake will make it hard to turn. but it could be warn so it will not stop it while running. That is the way my 970 is. While working around it treat it as if it is engaged for safty sake!
