I have just happened on an opportunity to buy a 1976 1070 for under $1000. The guy says it runs and will move, he just swapped out a motor from a 2670 into it. The glass is out of the cab, am not sure really what shape it is in, as I haven't seen it. Planning on going tomorrow to look. Here is the question I have though. He said it is black and tan, or gold in color, and I don't ever remember Case having a tractor that was black. (I am not but 31) I can remember that there were some of the 70 series that were tan, some red, white, and blue, but not black. Anyway I hope it isn't beat up too bad, cause if I can get it for under a grand, I can afford to spend a little on it to get it useable. Oh yeah, does the 1070 have a bar axle, or the planatries like a 1175? Thanks for your help.

Well, went and looked at the 1070. It did have the 2670 motor in it in one way or another. (The hood was around there somewhere the guy said). Couldn't get it to crank. Had no battery, he finally scrounged up a battery but the tractor had no diesel in it. I told him I would call him back Wed. I said to find the hood, the old motor, and I might be interested, key word being might. It says "demnostrator" on top of the cab, never seen one quite like that. He also has a 970 that will crank, but not move. May offer him 1000 bucks for both tractors, cause I think that the 1070 would be a good looking tractor if it were restored, would sure be one of a kind in my area. I will keep yall posted.

I doubt it has a FULL transfer of the 504 from a 2670 !!! The 2670 was turbo-charged with a (water-to-air) intercooler, built into the intake manifold. This would require the engine swap to also move the entire cooling system. I don't belive the radiators are near the same size. Possible to make anthing fit but not within the 1070 sheet-metal enviroment. With the horsepower of a 2670 you will certainly tear-up the Tranny and final drives if you hitch up anything substantial on the drawbar, probably even damage the bar in time.

With it having the 2670 motor (unless it has been detuned) I would be very very careful what you pull. Don't pull more than what a typical 100 horse tractor would pull because a stock 1070 is 110 horse and a 2670 is 220 horse!

But they were not made in 1976! It was when they first came out with the 70 series in '70 or '71.
