I have chance to buy a VAC Case with adjustable wide front and Eagle Hitch from an estate. Engine was rebuilt two years ago. With it comes a 5 ft. Servis brush cutter, a 3 pt. one row cultivator, a 6 ft. 3 pt. blade, and a 3 pt. dirt slip. All of the equipment is in usable condition. The tractor is straight with 75% rubber, rears not matching. Float sticks in carburetor sometimes. It was offered to me for $1800.00. Is this too much? Should I wait for the estate auction to buy it? Is it something I can make a little money on?

I agree with others here that $1800 isn't a bargain, but the Eagle Hitch makes the tractor interesting. Don't worry too much about the carb float issue - there isn't much to that carb, so it's not too big of a deal to work on (as I recently found out). It really depends on whether you really love the tractor, and whether the extra implements are worth an extra $600 or so over what the tractor is worth in other's eyes (aka resale value). I also agree that the tractor with Eagle Hitch, if in good running condition, is worth about $1200 here in NY/NJ.

Probably here in WV the tractor would bring no more than $1,200. Are the implements worth another $600?

In tractors as real estate its location, location...
VACs are getting to be like Ford 8Ns and are popular with suburban farmettes (or what ever you choose to call them) and thus bring more than similiar shape DCs. That said around here NE PA the 1800 is no great bargain.
I am always concerned when tthe phrase rebuilt is thrown around. Was it done professionally and completely... or did some one just put in some new rings in the garage an slap on some paint. Would definitley want to try it out a bit before spending that much
