Sorry but the pics dont help much. But that is a 90 series dash on the machine which would lead me to think it is a 504. The problem you will have though is whether the 1200 will take a newer 451/504 or if it will only take the older 451. The newer 451 and 504 will definately interchange but I am not sure if the older and newer 451's are the same bolt pattern.

Check the oil filter number,504's and 451's took different filter #'s.Fuel filters could be the same on both engines. If it has Baldwin filters the oil filter for a 504 is B236,don't know for a 451.

Going by the water manifold and the oil cooler looks to be a 504,but I agree with the other post that it should say on the tag above the starter.

Jef, I looked at the pics & in the last pic of the right side, isn't there a serial number tag on the block just above the starter? unless it's missing, that should say what engine it is. I can't see from the pic if there is a tag there or not.

Jeff, from another pic, what is the casting number on the side of the block ahead of the starter? or if it's possible to get a casting number off of a head I may be able to look it up in a " Service parts where used" book that I have or maybe in a Central Tractor catalog, I don't know if heads are the same on 451's & 504's

My Ag Parts catalog says: 504 head is A138337, 451 is A33616.

There were several different 504 heads. Maybe even several 451 heads too.

I was able to look in our old parts book this morning and none of those numbers matched the ones in the Ag parts catalog. Who knows how many times the numbers were changed.
