Well my 930 CK propane is going to need engine work and I have several questions. First how do I know when a head is cracked? as it is getting coolant in the oil. Second how to I determine if the crank and or bearings have been damaged? Also where is the best source for the parts that I will most likely need like bearings, sleeves pistons rings and on and on? I really am fond of this tractor so I am going to get it to going again regardless of cost. Thanks for any advice. R Wyler.

I just did my 830D. Someone who did a valve job swaped # 3 and # 4 rods. I don't how it held together at all.
Machine work on block was about $800 for 4 cyl. the recess for sleeves was trued and an insert was made to fix sealing surface where the O' seals. Gaskets, machine work, injectors rebuild, valve guides, and clutch totaled about $2300

That sounds like a very high $$ rebuild I sure hope my lp doesn't cost like that. I am rather nervous as to what I am going to find out when I get it tore down. R Wyler.

Parts were not too bad. Most of cost was labor, block machining, valve grinding and injector rebuilding which I could not do.

Yes labor does seem to cost a fortune. I will do everything that I can on mine and hopefully it will not require alot of work that I can't do. Another advantage is mine doesn't have a high $$$$$ injector pump to worry about. R Wyler.

Hey R Wyler: That's a bad thing to tell us parts guys, that"Money is no object". Parts shouldn't be a problem. A head rebuilding shop will check the heads for leaks. My guess is that the leaking is from the sleeve "O" Rings. I'd worry more of a cracked head with a diesel. Crank can be "Miked" in the frame for tolorance. Them CASE cranks are pretty tough. I'm overhauling an 800 with many, many hours, & the crank is perfect.

Well in reality I really can't afford to be buying overpriced parts I just meant that I am determined to fix it. When I get in in a shop I will tear into it. I am sure those cranks are tough as they have withstood alot with all the changes that line of engine's went through over the years. R Wyler.
