Ok here's the deal, got the thing out to deep in the pond Sunday, now the pto clutch won't disengage. Monday the drive cltch was stuck a little, but boy oh boy the pto clutch just won't let go. I have adjusted it to the point the pto should let go as soon as the clutch is pressed any, but it holds tight. So, is there any way to seperate them without splitting the tractor. I have tried, with the clutch adjuted this way, getting the bushhog in a bind with the clutch fully depressed, it just kills the tractor motor. I am guessing my only option is to split the clutch. Any suggestions on how to get the pto clutch free????? ?? without splitting the tractor?

On old Ford 8n,9n tractors, it was possible to free up a clutch disk stuck to the flywheel by simply loosening the bolts around the bell housing until there was a 1/2 inch gap at the bottom. Start the motor and push the clutch down. The transmission input shaft on a bind instantly broke the clutch disk free from the flywheel. It may work with the 885 unless there are some fixed hydraulic lines. Good luck.

Eddie,

I am unsure of that model, sorry I am more familiar with older Cases.

HEEEYYYY slow down Eddie,

First off, what year tractor, judging from your post it has to be one with live hyd, if you are adjusting the clutch.

To remove the clutch disks and stub shaft is very VERY simple, but i need to know what model Case you have.

let me know and we can progress from there

Thanks for the help Dave, The beast ia a mid 70's DB 885 diesel. What I am wanting to do is simply unstick the pto clutch. I know how to split the tractor, I put the clutches in myself. I am wondering if you can seperate the clutch assembly with the tractor still whole, or what IS the easiest way to unstick the pto clutch? Any ideas are very welcome.
Thanks,
Eddie
