We have a 580B construction King that has a loud clanking noise coming from the rear end and the wheel kind of catches on something internal but will turn. Could this be a snap ring broken or something catching on the ring gear? Help...

More than likely, there is a tooth missing on the side gear that drives the bull gear. It's a quick repair as compared to replacing the ring and pinion. Good luck.

Robby,

Most likely broken teeth on the ring gear, the pinion or both. Click on the link below for a parts illustration of the final drive. Drain the fluid and pull the rear inspection cover to see what gave-up. The machine will need to be split to repair.

The ring gear on the 580B were originallyriveted on.I have seen more than one that had the rivets work loose and come out. This is probably what happened to your tractor. To fix this you will have to replace the ring and pinion. The new ones come with a bolt on ring gear.Good Luck!
