If i remove half of the pulley on my 1949 S is it going to affect the weight on the crankshaft or is there a separate flywheel on the S.

I guess you noticed that there is a pin through the crankshaft that holds the front pulley on. You will have to drive it out.

There is a flywheel on the engine. If you remove any rotating part that does NOT change the center of gravity of what remains you will not affect engine balance. Bruce
