hello all,

i got a 1953 case sc with a foot clutch that doesn't want to disengage. I've adjusted the linkage with no results. I have both the operators and the repair manual, but I'm not sure how comfortable I am with getting in to that clutch assembly for adjustment there. also I'm not sure it will help. My gut feeling is that the clutch is going south. i would give the adjustment a try if you all think it might help. it is getting tougher to get the thing to let up so i can get it in gear. funny thing is it grabs great. I don't know. but i know you all do!!

First let me say that I have a lot of experience with SC hand clutches and very little with foot clutches. I do know that the foot clutch plates are prone to stick to the fly wheel. If I owned one of these tractors, I would park it with a block of wood holding the clutch pedal down so that the clutch plate is released. It may be a little hard on the pressure plate to do this though. I'm told that the sticking problem is created by suction and you can break the suction by drilling very small holes through the clutch plate rivets.

I have a SC with a foot clutch and when I first got it the clutch would stick and not release. So I went to my Case dealer and found a mechanic that was familar with the problem. He saiod the main problem is the fact that nobody changes the oil in the clutch sump so then crud builds up and causes it to stick. What he told me to do wasd rinse it out with diesel fuel fill it back up with fresh oil and diesel at 3 to 1 mixture and run it for a day. drain it and put in fresh oil and ity took care of the problem
