Hello, I find myself back in farming and need a good sized tractor to pull a bailer and wagon around the hills of my Vermont farm.

I had been looking at 700's which I think are about as small as I would go, however I must confess to always having had a soft spot in my heart for the 900s. I have run some of the big masseys and deeres of that vintage and a great number of big "modern" tractors so I am no stranger to big iron.

What do people think? The 900s look low and relatively short so I would think they would work out okay.

Also any leads on very reasonably priced/solid tractors?

Any things to look out for?

thanks a ton,

john

Not sure what you mean by "hills" but if you are looking at a tractor of that vintage you may want to try a 930 Comfort King. God power and a dependable tractor plus easy driving and its a good looking unit. Would taker one in a minute over the 4010/4020 Deere but thats my personal opinion. Can't comment on the MF as there weren't many in our neck of the woods when I was home farming. By the way, we used a 730 CK on the baler with a wagon on behind. Used to stack over 100 bales on the wagons.

Here, here! I agree, we have 2 930 DOM (flat top fenders) and there was nothing better in that vintage for vision, comfort, power, and ease of use.
