If that adjustment rod won't tighten them up, you'll need to put new discs in there. While you're in there, replace the spreader balls with ones that are 1/8 inch larger. This works wonders. We've done this on every 30 series tractor that we've owned and have not had to work on brakes for over 20 years.

Lamont, where are you getting the bigger balls? are they just balls from bearings or something else?

Just go to any bearing supply store. Mic your old ones. They should be 0.625 if I'm not mistaken. The new ones I used were 0.750 and work like a charm.

I wish I had known about the larger balls. I replaced the cones ( only the really bad ones) at $12.00 X 6 per side.

I had a grease seal leaking, be sure to check. I washed every up and it worked fine.

If your cones were really rough, they needed reworked anyway. Next time remember to go to your nearest bearing supply and get 0.750" bearing balls. They do wonders.

thres a rod come out of the brake drum to the pedal. turn the nut to about 3/4 inch free travel from the step to the brake. if that dont work.you proably will have to get inside the drum and spend some greenbacks hereit 50.00 a side for discs if you need them .. littls parts like the springs and ball bearings will make you gasp at the case dealer. not cus they cheap either. not a hard job tho hour and half do both sides.
