The adjustable wide front ends on my SC and DC both look as though they could be bent. The goose neck casting which the pivoting axel mounts to holds the axels at a slight angle allowing the king pins to extend forward slightly. Is this normal? The thing that makes me think it's normal is both of mine look to be at about the same angle. Any thoughts? Thanks, Glenn F.

Everything is tight on mine. Sounds like the slight forward rake is factory. Good discussion. Glenn F.

Mine too. '52 SC. With mine, the hole in the adjustable cross section is worn and not round any more. I thought I would bush it with an oil bronze bushing and install a new pin. My bigger worry is the yoke piece that turns left and right(not sure what it is called)... as my front is also raked out forward a bit, it has bent or opened up that yoke piece. From the lack of grease, the two holes in this piece are also out-of-round and will need to be bushed. How should I bend this back? Should I press it cold rather than heat it? Should I leave it bent and bore it back in the proper plane? This is the last real problem I have in bringing Gramps tractor back to life. It will be ready to go back to work after this fix and I am thrilled. Thanks.

I think the wide front end on my SC sets forward slightly at the bottom. It protruded forward a lot more before I fixed the center mounting bracket under the belly of the tractor. Might want to check to see how much play you have in this bracket.

Mine has come loose in this area too. Did you just put it back in its locator holes and put in new bolts? I think there's a ball and socket down there too. Mines dry and worn...

The bottom half of the bracket that holds the ball on mine was broken. I had a whole new assembly made using 1-inch thick steel plate. The machine shop cut a new socket out in the steel for the ball to sit in and also added a grease fitting.
