Hi all, My 3-point lift dosent work, im leaking some kind of fluid from my brakes, and the weather sucks! but at least I have my health. I think I have a hydrualic leak in side the tractor.
My question is how do i check all the fluids and were do each kind go. My manual is about 1 month from getting to me and I need to plant (pumpkins) this weekend. My tractor has triple range and there is dip stix all over the darn place and i have no idea what fluids they are checking. Thanks you for any help you can give me . Jake

The brakes are on the differential shaft. Leaks are the shaft seals where it passes through the transmission case.

Your eagle hitch piston seals may be leaking enough that it will not raise the draft arms. Piston seal failure leaks the torque tube oil into the transmission causing a higher level and may be contributing to the brake leaks. Check the transmission oil level at the plug/dipstick near the transmission shifter plate. Original is 90 wt, about 7 gals.

Hydraulic system reservoir is the torque tube. Plug/dipstick is on the triple range shifter cover plate. Original oil is 10 wt motor oil, most people use hyd oil. 12-13 qts.

Other than that, steering housing 140 wt (any gear oil), air intake oil cup same as engine oil, and of course the engine crankcase.

All I can think of at the moment.

Joe

Is the trans. plug/dipstick the larger on thats between the shift plate and the eagle hitch plate and its about 1 1/2 in dia.? The hydrulic oil gose on the shift plate ? Is that the on near the breather? How do you drain the hydrualic and trans. fluid? How about the rear end oil were dose it go in, how do you check it and how do you drain it. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP, Jake

The transmission plug/dipstick is between the transmission shifter plate and the eagle hitch plate and to the left of center. It is 1-1/2". Looks like you found it ok. Take out the plug, should be a dipstick welded to it. The drain plug is on the bottom of the transmission on the right side just about centerline with the axle. The original plug was recessed square drive and may be hard to spot unless you crawl under there. The Transmission oil is also the rearend oil. No separate dipstick, fill or drain plug.

The torque tube plug/dipstick is on the triple range shifter plate. It can either be on the left aft corner or the right forward corner across from the breather. I think it is 3/8" npt. The plug will have a dipstick welded on it. The larger plug (3/4"?) on that shifter plate is the fill for the hyd oil. The drain plug is on the bottom of the torque tube where it bolts up to the transmission. The torque tube oil is also the lubrication for the triple range gear train.
