This question is coming from someone not familiar with Case tractors--we have all AC & Farmall. I have an 80 year-old friend that is giving me what I think is a CC model. Pictures were posted here last year. I can get a set of rings for a DC model for little or nothing--are the engines in these two tractors the same? What about the SC model engine?

Kevin, The std bore of the cc was 3 7/8 The early dc used the same bore but later models used 4 inch bore. There was even 4 1/16th aftermarket sleeve set offered. you almost need to have the head off to check the bore. I agree that once you have a good running cc that you would love it. My advice is take the cc and restore it, if you dont like it then sell or give it to a good home. Alot of engine parts will interchange in the cc and dc also you can bolt a dc engine in place of a cc if the cc engine is bad. good luck with the cc Bill

CC and DC engines are the same in most respects, but whether the rings fit depends on whether the engine has a standard bore size. Get a CC in good shape and running right, and you'll like it a lot. It's rugged and performs very well for a tractor of its era. It handles pretty nicely, too, compared with many of its contemporaries.
