I have a 300 series 311 Case that I just put a new clutch in. The problem is that now the tractor still tries to pull some at a stop no matter how much the clutch rod is adjusted and in 3rd and 4th gears when you pull the throttle the clutch slips again. I did not change the pressure plate or surface the flywheel but both looked extremely good. The reason I was changing the clutch was its slipping from oil getting on it from a leaking rear main seal which I replaced while changing the clutch. I have torn the tractor down a second time and checked everything a second time and reinstalled, same problem happened again. It has triple range and hand clutch, could the hand clutch be slipping at speed? Need advice before another teardown.

Dan,

A couple of possibilities, Hand clutch could be slipping. Book says 50 pounds of force on the end of clutch lever to engage , if less adjust it . Other possibility , when you assembled the tractor you could have missed the splines in the cover assembly and crushed the cove assembly to the point that you can not release the clutch.

I've been thinking and thinking, but don't know the answer. I have a 311, but haven't had the clutch out of it. Does the hand clutch seem to knuckle-in like it's supposed to when you pull it up? The fact that the tractor still wants to move some when you disengage the foot clutch would normally indicate that the foot clutch rod needs shortened because the presssure plate is not releasing. Is it possible to put the clutch plate in backwards or there is a difference between the new and old clutch plates?
