I am wondering if anyone knows if there is a website that has Case Owners Manuals? I am at a total loss I feel like a complete idiot by this is the first tractor period I have ever owned. I am tring to figure out where to put the Hydraulic fluid at on the tractor. There is a place under the set close to the gear shift that has a removable pug is that where? My Case Vac is a Model 53,54,55 not sure which serial starts with a 60. Any help greatly appreciated.

The plug under the seat on the shifter cover is for the transmission gear oil. There should be a dipstick welded to the under side of the plug. Original oil was SAE 90. About 28 qts.

The fill plug for the torque tube is on the left side of the tube above a small 4 bolt flange. If you have the 2 piece clutch linkage the pivot will be on that flange. If you take the flange off there should be a cleanable edgewound filter under it. That is the hydraulic return filter. The original oil for the torque tube was SAE 5, 10, or 20 motor oil depending on ambient temp. General purpose tractor hyd fuild works just fine. Full level is up to the lip of the fill plug hole. About 8 qts.

Anyone know of a source for the hydraulic filter? Mine came out in many, many pieces. The loader on my VAI sure goes up faster though. I;m considering plumbing in a spin on filter mounted to the block if the old filters aren't available.

The old nr for the cleanable edge wound type is VT3139. The cross-ref nr is A30411. That is an active Case part number but I am not sure it is a duplicate of the original. Lists for about $30 so it should be.

I took the one out of my 311b, cut 1-1/2" off and it fits perfect in the Vac. Hyd filters for the early number series tractors, including COM are available from most filter makers in the disposable paper type. Not really worth paying Case price for the original.

Sorry, idiot eligibility is invalidated by ownership of a VAC. You might think you feel that you are one but it will pass. Remember, there is no such thing as a dumb question, only a dumb answer. So if you do the asking, you are in the clear. Have fun with your VAC.

Thanks alot Lew feel alot better. I really do like this tractor alot even it is my first I have ever owned. Of course I really like older things I have a horse drawn IH mowing machine that belonged to a great great grand father currently restoring it. I I really like is the metal tip on the cutting blade and the wook guide that attachs to that.
