Do these prices seem fair for 2 case tractors:400 case original complete but stuck engine.Diesel and needs paint but very straight $1350.00.Case 830 diesel case-o-matic with swartz loader.very good runner and complete $1675.00.These were sold at a Minnesota auction yesterday and I thought they sold high, waited through the whole sale for them and went home disgusted.

For 'here' the 400 went about right, the 830 went for a steal (a fair one will bring $4000 easy). While not Case stuff last sale I went to that I thought was high had a 7710 series 1 Ford with a cracked block, no cab glass, and rough (plus no hydraulics, and 13,000 hrs) went for $2800 and late model MF 75 hp with cab (broken up on outside of cab, water in the oil) with 2500 hrs brought $14,500.

Just to overhaul the motor would be a $3000.00 job.Dosn't make much sense to pay that kind of money for something that dont run.It was a collector that bought it I found out.I figured it would go fo 500-1000.Go figure. My 2 cents worth.

What price do you think they were going to bring?
I bought my 400 with the engine in the box for 1200.00. Very good pulling tractor, lots of 1st place wins!!!!!

I would say that the 400 was on the high side of things, but the 830 was a fair or even low (bargain) price, depending upon its overall appearance. Of course, WE know that the real measure of a tractor (or any machine) is in how mechanically sound it is, but a good paint job will win out with many folks as to how much they will pay for it.
