The Aermore exhaust whistle was a dealer accessory for Case crossmotors. I can also find record of them being optional on L and C Cases in 1929, but I don't know for how long they were offered after that. The whistles were kind of a throwback to the steam days when the whistle was used for signaling the threshing crew when you were starting or stopping the belt, a dangerous situation such as fire or boiler overpressure, or what I'd call the most important function, signaling LUNCH. I've begun collecting the old Aermores and now have several. They came in different sizes which included "Big Four", #2, #1, #0, #00 and I recently learned there was a #000 which I now have on its way to me. As of now I lack only a #2 and a #0 to complete my set of all the models I know of. I rigged my C to use the Aermores for parades. The C will blow the smaller whistles good, but isn't up to the #00 or #000 at all. One day I'll get my L rigged up and see if the bigger engine can do it.
