Does anyone have any info (pictures, brochures, stories, etc.) of the old American Tractor plant in Churubusco, IN? My grandfather (Lloyd Lautzenhiser) worked there before Case bought them and worked in Case's experimental dept. afterwards. He designed hydraulics for ATC dozers, and I only have one picture of him on an ATC dozer. I know he worked with Hawkins who was a Case engineer for a long time. I was also told the president and founder of American Tractor later became president of JI Case? Any names, dates, info to document this would be greatly appreciated. Is the old American Tractor building still up? If not, where was it?My grandpa passed in '99. I worked along side him for my entire teenage years fixin and tinkerin with his 3 DCs, 2 SCs, 1370, and Oliver OC-6 crawler, and although I asked a lot of tractor questions I only wish I had asked more about Case and American Tractor and his experiences there. I'm restoring his old pride and joy, a '50 DC4, and should have it finished around summer '05. I plan to submit pics and an article to Antique Power and Heritage Eagle. Thanks for all the help and support. My e-mail is [email protected]
