430 points fixed, but misses when hot

I was able to fix the problem with my points burning by following some directions from several of you. However, when the tractor gets hot after about an hour of mowing, it starts to miss. If I let it cool, it will start running good again. The coil is mounted above the engine, is the coil getting hot and causing the problem? Should I try a new coil, and if so, does anyone have a suggestion on a replacement coil. Thanks, Jim

Hi,
Check the coil polarity, wired backwards will overheat the coil. I think some 430's where positive ground.
Plugged gas cap vent? When it starts missing remove the gas cap and see if that makes a difference. Best wishes, Dennis.....

Perhaps you could install a temporary heat deflector to keep the coil from getting so hot, to see if that makes any difference, before changing it out. Got any asbestos?
