It should work OK. It would probably work better on a tractor that has down pressure on the lift, like my Case SC. How hard is your ground? Everyone that I know that had them always had to add weight to them to make them dig, if their hoist didn't have down pressure.

That was my concern about the down pressure.
Thanks,

I've drilled about 250 holes this spring with my 410b and a Speeco 12" auger (the cheapest digger available in my area). I'm in the moraine area of Wisconsin, so there's substantial variety of soils (sand, gravel, clay, and a little loam). Like you, I also worried about down pressure and weight, but I found this rig will dig fine IF you help out in two ways. First, the top couple of inches of sod covers the digging blades with grass/roots and they won't dig well until they're cleaned off. I got in the habit of starting the hole then lifting the digger, getting off the tractor with my shovel, and using it to clean the blades. Second, while I'm there with the hole just begun, I'll stick the shovel in the hole on one side and open up a "catch" flap through the remaining sod. This may seem like a lot of work, but it's fast in practice and the rest of the hole typically takes about 30 seconds to drill. On the big tree-planting day my wife helped by running the shovel, and we dug 150 holes in three hours with this method. Your soils may be different than mine, but I suggest considering this method before you worry too much about adding weights, etc. Good luck!

Dad had a Danuser post hole digger with a 12" auger that he used with a wfe 311 quite well. I remember he had the cast wheel weights on the front tires to help keep the nose on the ground. Still have the digger, wish I had the tractor...
