611B Hydraulic Pump - advice wanted!

According to my I & T manual, the 611B can have a Barnes gear driven pump or an Eaton belt drive unit. Of course, my "good" tractor has the gear drive and my parts donor tractor has the other! The gear drive pump leaks like a seive. Externally for sure and I think it leaks back into the crankcase also. I & T says don't try to fix it, just replace the pump. Any advice on this? Can the existing pump be re-built? Can a replacement be purchased? Will another used one likely be just as bad as the one I have? Thanks for any help! -Kirk

p.s. Replaced the missing left floorboard so now I have foot feed and parking brake! What a great improvement - now I can use C-O-M as intended!

Case manual lists Barnes gear drive pump as "unserviceable" also. The pump is the spur gear type and is repairable if the spur gears and casing have not been damaged by running the pump dry.

Your external leak is probably the o-ring where the reservoir mounts on the pump casing. I haven't changed a shaft seal but this type pump will likely have a common lip seal. If the shaft is worn in the way of the seal it can be repaired with a sleeve like a Eaton Speedy-Sleeve.

The spur gears ends and side plates have plenty of meat for machining out light scoring. The bearings are Torrington needle type.

It is actually a pretty well made little pump, not a throw away. So take a shot at repairing it.
