I have a case 1070 powershift tractor when the tractor is in neutral and the power shift is in 1st gear the tractor stalls. works ok when the power shift is in 2nd or 3rd and the tractor is in any gear. when the tractor is in any gear and the power shift is in 1st gear it almost feels like the brake is on untill you shift up with the power shift. Have checked the hydrolic fluid and it is ok.please help.

Just had the same problem with my 2470. You don't have to pull the ROPS valve. C-3 pilot valve is located on the back side of the ROPS valve, the second valve from the right. After you take the plug out, you'll have to screw a stove bolt into the spool(sorry, I don't know the size it takes), and pull the spool out. If you have to touch up the inside of the valve body, wrap a piece of emery cloth around a wooden dowel, or something of that nature.. Spool should work freely when your done.

Does it stall the engine in reverse also. If it does, C-3 pilot valve is sticking. Contamination in the system causing the problem. You must free the spool.

There are (retard) adjustments on top of the powershift cover to insure the smooth transition from one (clutch pack) powershift to the next. The adjustments are NOT correct if there is hesitation or the motor speeds up from one powershift to another or the motor pulls down. A service manual from Case does a good job of explaining how to correct those adjustments.

I agree with Turbo. I think you have a stuck pilot valve. These move to the engagement position hydraulically but are returned only by a spring. So they have to be free free. You will probably have to pull the valve body and free it up, polish with crocus cloth. The valve body comes off relatively easily. Give everything a bath so you don't get dirt in the transmission. Biggest pain, if you have a cab, is you have to work through the door! If you don't have a manual get one.
