580 CK sluggish shuttle shift transmission

This following method to deal with a sluggish shuttle shift was posted elsewhere. Has anyone used it and can you tell me if it will work? Any reason to avoid this method?

Resolution:

1. Drained the oil (run a bit to get it ALL)
2. Filled with ~ 5 gal of diesel fuel
3. Ran for 15 minutes, flushed out diesel
- this removed the water causing the foaming,
normal oil change would not remove the water
4. Filled with 30wt non-detergent diesel
"motor oil" from Tractors-R-Us (black can)
5. It now takes two or three minutes to warm up,
then will work HARD "all day".

I suspect that it had the same old problems
that my Clark Michigan loaders had - just
getting old & needs a bit more viscosity ...

My problems solved , no foaming & has all the
power one could want :-)
