Hi Dave,

I went over there and read it. I am running the loader hydraulics from the tractor internal pump off the upper control valve to selector valves mounted by the seat.

The eagle hitch is run off the the same pump via the lower control valve. I don't use the hitch. Have a 3.0 backhoe mounted with separate pto pump and reservoir.

The Char-lynn power steering motor is run by the original cam gear driven Barnes pump in the same opening that you want find out if the VA pump will fit.

I am going to hang it up for tonight. I drove 500 miles today and made a mistake on Richard's eagle hitch post below. Getting too old.

I have some questions to ask, do you want to do it here or by email? Up to you.

Yeah Joe, this will be fine, I also was thinking of using the hyd unit with the lines going to the back on the left I don't think I would use them. One question I have is after the loader is all primed is the 3 gallons in the torque tube enough for the 3 point and the loader?

If so I can tie into that also and still use the divider valve for the power steering unit as it only needs about 1000 psi thanks for any information you have Dave

The hyd lines leading back on the left are for the remotes right? To use them to provide a supply and return to the loader valves you will need to wire the lever for the control valve in position depending on which hose you want to be the supply or return.

I think your torque tube holds 13 qts same as mine. If you are going to use double acting cylinders there is enough oil. Let's assume you are using 2 lift cyls and 1 dump cyl. Typically the piston end of the takes 25% more oil than the rod end so you can figure out the variation in the torque tube level. I don't know the dimensions of the eagle hitch cyl. The bore is close to 4" dia, I don't know the stroke but use 8" just for a figure. That would take 0.435 gal with draft arms fully up (check my math please). Assuming you're using a Char-lynn in the steering shaft that won't change the oil level.

The oil pump in new condition is rated at 9 gpm @ about 1000 psi. That will be at PTO engine rpm.

The factory Char-lynn is rated at 3.5 gpm @ up to 1000 psi so your priority to steering will have to near 3 to 3.5 gpm. Do you have the factory Char-lynn? Some of those things selling on ebay take 6 gpm. They aren't for small tractors, more likely for powering valves.

HI Joe. Yes, just like you said I was planning on tying the lever off and using one side of the power hyd- line and then have the return line go back to the torque tube. Sounnds like everything will work. I do have a factory Charlin unit I plan on using. I will send you a picture when its done thanks for your help Dave

Good, go for it. I think it will come out just fine. You'll really like that power steering, especially with a bucket full of dirt.

Good luck, joe
