My friend has a 580C with a deisel engine. We were using it the other day, after about 1/2hour it lost power. It will idle with the throttle open, but engine will not speed up. It dies when any controls are used. It has fuel, linkage working, the filters spray fuel when the drains are cracked open, not overheating, no oil in the water or water in the oil. Runs smooth just no increse in engine speed. I'm thinking the pump has gone bad. No high pressure. Any simple way to check??? Any other ideas????

could be clogged filter or problem with shut off on pump more likely dirt in tank or filters I would change them out first and check the tank what you describe sounds like a fuel starvation problem also check for clogged air intake. You could take the pump off and get it tested at a shop up here about 350.00 canadian to tell you it is broke.

Thanks for the help. I'm thinking it is a fuel problem. Going to check the tank to see if some junk got inside and is plugging the feed line. Then check the filters. I'm hoping it's not the pump.

Filters had rubbish in them. Changed them. Cleaned the lines and tank. Still same problem. Can anyone tell me how to check the pump pressure??? Where to take the readings and what kind of pressures I should be getting????
