I was talking to a gentleman about a 2390 which loses hydraulics when he turns the wheels to short or sometimes (I believe) when he shifts. He said the problem goes away if you shut off and restarts the tractor. Anyone got ideas, another gentleman told me he had a similar problem on a 2290 but his steering was unaffected; it involved cleaning some valves on the side of the tractor. I know nothing about Case tractors, anyone have ideas?

We had a 1070 do this exact thing. It ended up being both a weak hydraulic pump and the steering valve body was sticking.

sounds as if your sucksion screen on hydraulic pump is plugged. pull rear plate and pto to get at it.

If the rps 34 trans stops driving when the wheels are cramped it indicates to me that the steering pump is marginal. Flow from the steering circuit goes back to the rps valve and feeds the reverse lockout spool after regulation. If the flow stops during steering, the reverse lockout spool loses its supply. If the reverse lockout spool is out of position, flow to the proper clutches is affected. Get a trained tech in your area to flow test the 8 Gallon steering pump.mEl

don't look for the suction screen in the rear on a 23 it is in the mid tractor area. Mel
