How can I tell if my DC-3 water pump works?

I know this sounds like a dumb question but I want to make sure all is well. I have been using my 1951 DC-3 for over two years now and it always works well. I use it sometimes for up to an hour at a time maybe even more. My temperature gauge usually rises to around 165-180F and never above that. Antifreeze/coolant sits around 2 inchec below the mouth of the radiator - I find if I add more, it splashes out on rough terrain as I do not have a good seal there. My concern is. . I never seem to feel liquid in the radiator hose when it is not running - too fearful to try and reach and squeeze when it IS running. How can I tell if the pump is actually working or is my temperature gauge enough to answer the question?

Chris; If you worked the tractor for an hour and the temperature stayed at 165 to 180, you can be sure the water pump is working fine... Gene

Are you saying I should see some turbulence or ripples in the radiator while running?

Yes, you should see some turbulence with the tractor running.
