I think I need to rebuild the brakes on my 300, I push as hard as I can to stop, the pedal doesn;t go all the way down but they don't seem to grab at half way on the pedal???
Any step by step guidelines to take them apart along with any secret tricks. I have had the tractor for years and have never had much of it apart.

C.Amick has it pretty well covered but a couple things.

Check the drain hole on the bottom of each brake cover for oil so you'll know if the differential shaft seal is leaking and get an idea how deep the repair will be.

Brake discs are p/n G13019, still available from Case about $40 ea. If you are going to reline original discs, check them for warpage, also check splines for wear and fit to shaft. Either will cause binding, brakes tend to sometimes not release until tractor moves and bang they release.

Reused balls should have full chrome covering. Ball ramps should be smooth with no ridges.

I like the ss ball suggestion. Cant remember the size, 3/4?, 7/8? Can you help with the size C. Amick? I probably need to replace mine before too long.

Joe

If none of the springs are broken, probably all they need are the discs re-lined and the steel balls cleaned or replaced. I've been using hard stainless steel balls in mine. I get them from McMaster Carr, I think they are grade 440-C?
