Does a 530 have live hydraulics and PTO? Any major problems with them to look out for? What's the differences between a 430 and a 530?

Thanks for any info!

A 470 gas is coming up for auction April 02. It looks to be in decent shape. What is a reasonable price range? Will parts be a problem, since this model was apparently made for only one year. Are many things between the 470 interchangable between the 430 & 530? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a 430 diesel and a 530 gas. In my opinion they are in the same league as for as power is concerned. The 430 will do about anything the 530 will do plowing, disking, etc. I use the 430 more for farming because it is more economical. It will go a long way on a tank of fuel where the 530 can suck a lot of gas through the carb under heavy loads. They both have good power steering but the 530 has a shorter turning radius since it is a utility model where the 430 is a row crop. I bale square hay with both of them and would not prefer one over the other other than the 430 is a lot cheaper to run.

I am the original owner of a 1969 530. It is a diesel with a 4 speed dual range transmission and independent PTO. The Case-o-matic is the tractor with the clutch mentioned previously, the dual range is a 4 speed with a high-low shifter on the right side of the transmission case. The 530 was also offered with a Triple-Range transmission. In my opinion the 530 is the best 40 horsepower tractor ever made by any company.Mine has over 15000 hours on it and has pulled up to a 6 row KMC rolling cultivator. If I could find another one I would buy it no matter what shape it was in.

Jim really hit it on the head. I have a 430 gas, a 430 diesel, and a 530 diesel. The 430s are mid 30's hp and the 530 is mid 40's hp the 530 weighs about 1000 lbs more than the 430's. The 430's are more manueverable in tight quarters but the 530 could work them in the ground. I consider the 430 a utility tractor and the 530 a small real tractor capable of plowing, discing, etc.

They 430 and 530 were made from 60-69. They both were available in gas and diesel. Both had the 188 diesel. The 430 had a 148 gas and the 530 had a 159 gas. The 630 had a 188 gas and diesel. They all had live hydralics. Only some had true live pto. They had a clutch pack made into the rear pto. The other ones were gear dog engaged.
They had a transmission clutch available on them that stopped travel motion but allowed the pto to continue but you can't change gears with it disengaged. You have to push down on the foot clutch to change the gear but that will stop the pto also. Some did not have the travel clutch. They evolved into the 470, 570. Next to delaying the introduction of the 400s for 2 yares it was the worst thing Case did by dropping them and going to the DBs. Next worst thing was not giving the VAC the 6 speed tranny and cutting back their HP.

I had a 530. It was a backhoe so it did not have a PTO. 430 are gas, 530 are diesel.
