With the entire front axle removed from the tractor, I noticed that there is a lot of slop at the bottom of the right wheel spindle. The top of the spindle (where the steering linkage attaches) is fairly tight, but the bottom is real loose with way too much slop.I am trying to get that side apart to check things out. I have removed both the top nut (that holds the steering arm), and the bottom nut (that holds the wheel assembly). I was hoping that the wheel and hub would slide off, but those hopes were quickly dashed. The top piece looks like it was welded at one time - why it was welded I have no idea. When I pried the steering arm's split clamp apart, the welded areas started to crack loose, so I am hopeful that with some grinding and cold-chiseling, I can get the top apart. But, I still have the problem of getting that bottom area apart, to look at the bushing or whatever is causing the slop. I highly doubt that I have the pieces named correctly, but I hope that there's enough info here to see what's going on. Any ideas? I was told that this front end came off of a 400, and is the old-style front end. As always, thanks in advance...
