580CK transmission fluid

I have a 1968 Case 580CK 188 with power shuttle. Can I use a regular hydraulic fluid, or do I have to use TCH fluid? (There are no Case dealers in Mass. The nearest one is in NH)
Does the rear end take TCH also, or regular gear oil?
Also, I have called the dealers in NH and none have TCH, only Hytran. What is the difference?

Case TCH fluid is available at Case Agricultural & Industrial equipment dealers. Have you checked both kinds of retail outlets. Certainly Case must sell & service farm tractors and/or backhoes in Mass.
The 580CK transmission/differential case requires 80W(winter)90W(summer) multi-purpose gear lube. Operators manual says 17 qts. for full refill.

Me, I'd go to any local oil supplier and ask them for their oil that is for; Agricultural or Industrial Tractor transmission/hydraulics with wet brakes.. The Case TCH may be hard to find except at a Case Ind. Dlr. in some areas.. Most of the Farm n Home places like TSC (tractor supply co.) have this type oil onhand also.
