just purchased a 990. pulled the head today. has a freeze crack in the block deck, between #2 and #3 cylinders going through the water passage holes. the crack makes the deck have a slight dip in the area of the crack. it looked as if it had a fairly new headgasket that was blown between #3 and the water passages (caused by the slight dip. the sleeves look good and have a good raised ring around them. my gut feeling is that they should seal.

what are my options. the tractor would be used for occasional farm work (i have other farm tractors including another 990)

Thanks for any ideas fellows.

I have heard of some people drilling out the crack and having it welded. The weld would then need to be ground perfectly flat with the deck.
