Does anyone know the float setting for a TSX 114 carb on a VAC? Sure would appreciate it if you would pass it along. I've had the carb off and soaked twice and it still needs the choke pulled out a little to run at high speed. I can back the adjuster all the way out and it makes no difference?

Technically, by the book, it's 9/32". I was just looking at that the other day trying to troubleshoot the carb on my father's '48 VAC. Of course 1/4" is probably close enough.

John, you better stop relying on those I&T manuals. Of course, 9/32" or slightly more may help get by with a starving carb problem. We used to do that to get the work done and then fixed it right.

I see on your other post that Dad got the Vac running. Admit it, lots of fun wasn't it. You're going to enjoy driving more after all the hassle.

Joe

Well, let me know if that manual isn't accurate. Not having anything else to go on, I consider it almost bible. I always check here before I trust it for something major though! I wouldn't have bothered posting except I just read that section trying to come up with ideas about this carb issue. I swear, I didn't see anything broken in there when I had it apart!

As for the VAC, being 5 hours away I don't get up there much to drive it. That's ok with me though, that thing is a death trap. I still think it's a great machine though!

Naw they are OK manuals John. I have just noted that some of them have 9/32" while all the Case manuals I have seen set @ 1/4".

Having given the I&T folks a bad rap, I didn't do any better. Do you notice the mistake in my post. Should read less than 1/4" may help a starving carb. Less (gap) is more (gas) here.

Anyway Dad will enjoy the tractor. You're a good son I'll bet.

Joe

I missed your typo, but understand your explanation!

I wasn't all that good - just making up for it now that dad and I have something in common I suppose!

Measurement is 1/4" with gasket in place. If the main jet is in good shape, you may still have some restriction in the body passages under it. Joe
