580B backhoe, had it for a year now. always blew coolant since previous owner rebuilt motor (twice). Finally getting coolant in oil and blow by went from excessive to outrageous. Are 188 diesel motors and heads around used, Are parts available aftermarket. If motor has to come out, is their anything else that should be done. Thanks, dc - frederick, md.

It there's excessive blow-by coming out of the vent tube, that's another way of saying it's OVERHAUL time! Get a new piston/sleeve kit. The water in the oil could come from a bad head gasket, defective o-ring seals on the sleeves, or a cracked head. You'll discover the reason during the overhaul.

Dave Check Sleeve Petrussion Above Block .002-.004 If Sleeve Flange Sets Below Block Head Gasket Will"t Seal. Head Gasket Fire Ring Should Show Compression Going Past It & Into Water Jacket. Also Clean Top Of Sleeve Flange & Look For Tiny Line Crack. E Mail Back If Need More Help. Also Sleeve "0" Rings Could Leak Water Past Them. Brent Behner
