Valve stem seals on an SC?

My 43 SC runs well and smokes very little under load, but at idle, it makes the biggest blue smoke cloud... So I am assuming that its the high vacuum pulling oil in around the valve stems. Does the SC even have valve stem seals? Will the umbrella type used on many auto engines work on this engine without starving the guides for oil? I don't have the money for a head rebuild, but do I have some unused chevy and ford v8 umbrella seals that I'd like to try if it won't hurt anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I figure that you have bad piston oil rings. If you want to do something to the valve stem guides, you might want to consider knurling them to compensate for the wear.

I don't think the SC had valve stem seals. At least, there aren't any type of seals on mine. It doesn't smoke much at all, whether under load or at idle. One thing - we did put "rotacaps" on the exhaust valves, so that they'd rotate and not wear into the same spot on the seats.

I guess I don't know if the stuff you mentioned would work or not. I have wondered what prevented oil leaking past the guides, so maybe someone can enlighten me. I could use some enlightment these days...

Thank you both for the information and comments- they weren't the answers I was hoping for, but sometimes the truth hurts.... and costs $$$
