I am presently restoring a model c. I'm at the point of reassembling the engine. as I was checking the oil lines and pump I could not find a passage for the oil to get up to the top of the cylinder head. If anyone out there has done this before, or knows how the oil gets up to the top, could you please help.

This is a 1936 case model c

Thank You

Well, I must say the answers to this post have differed from what the manual says. The original case C manual I have says " it is recommened that the valve cover be removed every two or three weeks of use and kerosene squirted around the valve stems while the engine is running, then oil valve mechanism with light fresh oil."

I used my Case C orchard quite a bit in the last couple years, and followed this and never had a lick of trouble with the top end of the engine.

Unfortuneately, while doing a combining exibition for my antique tractor club, last august my CO burned out a rod, and now has a knock to it. I dunno what I am going to do, as I am in college (I'm only 20), and I really don't want to pay to get the rod(s) rebabited professionally as this would run $100/ a rod. Anyone out there have a used case c/cc/co rod that has some babbit left? I'd sure appreciate hearing from you. Thanks,
Kent

I currently own 2 C's 2 CC's and a L and don't mind oiling the rocker arms for every show. My L has a pipe through the hood to oil rockers and goes into a drip pan over the rocker shaft. The pan has a felt insert (works quite well) I feel that if these tractors made it this long with little wear and were used everyday they don't need to be updated now.

Thanks for the info. Not sure which method I'll use yet, but it is something I did not realize had to be done every time I will be running it.

Thanks again.

I am also restoring a C. A friend of mine who has already done one, put a tee in the line that feeds the main bearings. He then ran a line up in one of the pushrod passages to a small needle valve, to control flow. The valve supplies a manifold that he constructed out of a tube with holes drilled in the appropriate places to drip oil onto the rocker arms. After starting the tractor he removed the valve cover and adjusted the flow to a slow drip. This all may take some time and ingenuity to create, but seems worth it to not have to remove hood and break valve cover seal every morning. Dean

What is the serial number to your "C". Mine is a 36 also, C300916.

I generally oil the valves on mine before each show I go to. I keep a small oil can in the toolbox. If I oil them during the show, it will generally draw a crowd asking what I'm doing, and gives them a look at the valves and lifters.
