930 low speed adjust

Is there an external adjustment on injector pump for low idle on a '64 930CK? I tried shortening the linkage but then the pump shut off stopped working. When I close the throttle to the low idle stop the governor cycles from dying to about 600rpm, then dying again etc. Sorry but the service manual budget is empty right now...

Mr. Fargo: I'm back with what I hope will help you out. On the Governor end of the injector pump there is a cap (just above the square cap with the 4 screws). It should be on the same plane as the throttle shaft. Remove the cap, loosen the lock nut, and turn the screw CLOCKWISE 1/16 of a turn at a time till it smoothes out. If you go to far the idle speed will increase. When you find the best setting, lock the nut, replace the cap, and seal it with a light wire.

Thanks guys, I will clarify a bit. It is not a linkage problem. It is not a governor response problem as it is not hunting and will run stable at any speed over 650rpm. The problem is either that the low idle speed is set too low, or possibly some other problem that has caused it to idle at less rpm's than it should.

It is not a linkage problem. I do not know which 930 you have there were a few. On my comfort king the rear plate of the pump was held on by four 10mm cap screws. Once the plate was removed I loosened up the locknut and tightened up the governor response spring about an eighth of a turn and it stopped the "hunting" you are describing. It also gave better response under load.

The screw on the back side is the high RPM stop. There is an adjustment for idle, but it is not on the outside of the pump. I do not have time to look it up in the Case Service manual this morning, but I will later if no one else steps up to the plate.

There is a jack screw on the backside of the inline pumps that can be adjusted sometimes. Also just do not close the throttle lever as much. Maybe could be a bigger problem.
