I am rebuilding my 1955 401 diesel. It has a 251 in it. Can I use a rebuild kit for a 401 Super with a 267? What about a 267 with the 1/8th over bore kit. It's not a puller, just a great farm tractor but more power always fun. Any other tips on wringing alittle more juice out of the old girl without sacrificing to much reliability? Will porting help? Can the injector be turned up any? Also, I noticed that this engine runs at 15:1 and alot of other diesels run anywhere from 16:1 to 18:1. Should I mill the head? Will this help the cold start?

The 267 sleeves will work. You may have to get a little boring done, but I don't think so. I believe the sleeves are thinner and they'll slip right in. I can't remember 100% on that. The compression change will not be significant. My suggestion would be try to find a 301 diesel from an 830 or better yet a 336 diesel from an 870. Either one will bolt right up and give MUCH more HP!
