Looks like you must be building yourself quite a puller.

Ain't that one of them there aftermarket high performance Al-lum-minim racin' heads on there?

You might shoulda kept that one top secret now everyone else will want one too.

Les-

Who says that old SC ain't a pulling tractor?

I bet it pulled that wallet RIGHT out of your pants! (grin)

(p.s. - tell Sky to say "hey" on the boards more often. I like hearing what he's working on and seeing photos of the project.)

Les,

If I'm reading those two overlapping wires right- instead of 1-3-4-2, you've got it hooked up 4-2-1-3.

The front of the tractor is cylinder #1, the upper right distributor nipple is #1, and it rotates clockwise (as you face it.)

As your picture shows:

1 is hooked to #4 cylinder
3 is hooked to #2
4 is hooked to #1
2 is hooked to #3

YEP- 180 degrees off.

I spoke too soon, Mike. It goes like this:

Magneto - Plug #1 #4 #2 #2 #3 #1 #4 #3

I think you're still confusing something, Les.

Upper right on distributer cap is #1
Lower right is #3
Lower left is #4
Upper left is #2

It rotates clockwise.

Some magneto caps only label #1 nipple, but others list the 1-3-4-2.

It makes sense if you look at it as firing order, it makes no sense if you think it should be 1-2-3-4 ! (grin)

it is off 180 but dont hurt anything, if you want it right just take mag off and rotate 180 and put back on and move wires 180

If your rotating the impulse coupler, you better go 360 degrees or you're gona be 3/4 of a turn off. THEY WILL GO ON 4 DIFFERENT WAYS.

Yep- 180 degree of a turn on the back end of the magneto will get you a 1/4 turn (90 degrees) on the rotor end.

The IH mags have a dot on the impulse coupling- so if you know which cylinder your rotor was pointed to when you pulled the mag, and you know whether the impulse dot was facing towards or away from the engine block... you can put it back on like it was without having to spin the engine to #1 TDC.
