Need advice; on a 530 Ag Tractor, hydraulic oil from the torque tube that supplys the Draft-O-Matic hydraulic syatem is getting into the tansmission case and forcing it out the top of the gear shift cover, and the final drive air vent. When the torque tube is low on oil the power lift stops working, filling the oil level in the touque tube will allow the power lift to work for a while, but evenutally the transmisssion and final drive become flooded. What is causing the oil to get into the transmission case and not to return to the hydraulic pump reservoir? This tractor has the standard clutch and standard transmission.

Your problem is the rockshaft piston seals!!!! The torque tube requires TCH oil for the hydraulics. The transmission requires 90W gear oil for the proper lubrication of the transmissin gears and bull gears. The rockshaft piston seals are leaking so badly, it's filling the transmission with hydraulic oil and overflowing through the gear shift and vent! Remove the rockshaft cover and replace the rockshaft piston seals!!! While there is seal between the torque tube and transmission, it will NEVER allow a transfer of oil at the rate you're describing even if it's gone! I'm a former CASE mechanic!

The double seal around the PTO input shaft is usually the one that leaks and they can be replaced from the rear by removing the PTO.

JRT has it right on the two possible locations for the leak. I had to replace the seal on the cylinder for the Draft-o-matic on my 530. If that seal is bad the three point hitch will be sluggish when raising a load or once the load is raised it will start to overflow.

The oil may be leaking into the transmission from one of two places, or in the case of my 430 both. There is a seal between the triple range unit which contains hydraulic oil and the regular transmission, which holds gear oil. If the seal is bad, it will flood into the rear transmission fast and force it out around the gear shift. Another place it leaks is when the ring on the hydraulic piston for the 3-point lift goes bad, however this problem does not usually force oil out at the gear shift. The way I checked mine was drain all the oil out of both sections and remove the regular transmission cap so you can see inside. Fill the front transmission (hydraulic oil section) with something real thin such as diesel fuel. If the seal is bad, diesel fuel will flow through so fast you can see it. If you want to fix it you have to split the tractor and remove lots of gears. I did on mine and while I was in there, I replaced all the main bearings and seals. I also replaced the rings on the hydraulic piston for the 3-point lift. Made a real good little tractor out of it. No more leaks.

I too, would like to know as my 530 does the same thing. When the transmission gets full, the tractor won't pull itself in road gear for all the oil in the transmission gears. Please don't suggest how to "make it work". I want to know why it happens and how to "make it right".
Also, is the transmission supposed to have a different weight oil than the rear end ? If not then why doesn't it share the oil supply in the first place ? If anyone can help us with some info, it would be appreciated as I know of a couple other guys with the same problem. Thanks.

A cheap and quick fix is to connect the drain plugs of the torque tube and trans with an open hose that will allow the oil to equalize. Change to Hytran oil in both. I bought my tractor used with this set up and it works fine. Other choice is to split the tractor.
