When I got my tractor it had no fenders. I got fenders for in the mail yesterday and recieved the fenders and a mountining bracket. Now for the questions.
1.) Are there 2(TWO) parts to the mounting bracket?
2.) Like maybe a top and bottom piece?
3.) Or does it use a big u-bolt?
4.) How does the bracket mount? 5.) Torward the tire or away from it?
A picture would be great as an example. Because I live in the city and know no one with a tractor around here. (Great Lakes Navy Base) Thanks Richard

I had u-bolts made. Cost $16 for two, made out of 5/8" rod from a leaf spring shop.

Hey, my early SC with bigger fenders had a second cast u-shaped peice for under the axles too. It had four big 5/8"? bolts holding them on. U-bolts probly work for those "puny" later fenders! HA!

Hi Richard,

I think I can help:

1) & 2) No there is only one piece (cast iron) for the bracket.

3) Yes, there is a big U-bolt, like this-

4) There is a key cast into the under side of the fender bracket. This fits into a grooved slot that runs along the top of the tractor's axle. You can position the bracket in any position (back and forth) along that slot.

5) The bracket is made to be mounted in any one of several positions- you can point the flat part that the fender bolts to in towards the seat, or out towards the wheels.

6) You can also mount the fenders on either the inner set of holes or the outer set of holes, like this-

This gives you about a million combinations depending on your wheel spacing and which way your wheels are mounted (dished in or dished out.)

Hope this helps, -Schotte

I thought I'd already been named "Chief Fence Post" and "Damn Magneto Hippie".... Just how many honorariums can this board bestow on a fella? (grin)

(p.s. - to answer the other fellows question: it was welded, not brazed. It was that way when I bought the fenders. I just ground the weld down smooth before I painted. It's held fine so far, and I have a replacement bracket if there's ever a problem.)

Thanks Mike, Thats what I was looking for. I kinda figured that the braket was a universal one for wheel spacing and tire size. But it doesnt' hurt to ask. By the way, nice braze job. Did it hold?
