i have a 1998 dodge 1500 pickup, the problem is all my gauges stopped working? (fuel, oil presure, temp, alt, speddomiter, etc) i have checked all the fuses but all look ok? is their a relay that i am overlooking? I know i am not on the right discussion board, but anyone smart enough to be involved with case equipment can surely help me out with this (i hope) small problem. thanks a million

I worked for a Chrysler dealer for nearly three years as a technician. If all the gauges stopped simultaneously, you most likely have a printed circuit board that has failed. It mounts to the back of the gauge cluster. Don't bother looking for an IVR (instrument voltage regulator), it doesn't have one. If fuses are good, remove the cluster and examine the board, often times you can see a burnt spot on the board. Yes, the cluster should go through the PCM or the BCM, Powertrain Control Module or Body Control Module. Odds are against either module being the cause, but it is possible. Does the odometer still read? If that is dead also it would still make me look at the circuit board as the primary fault. I hope this helps. It's just not easy anymore is it? Chris.

Check with Dodge for any re-calls on the guage set.Your guage set is most likely computerized, not going to be a simple cheap fix.Just my experience with Dodge .

Had an S-10 once that had a small fuse to gauges, and wouldn't charge either. The gauge fuse also kept the charge circuit on somehow. SO, recheck those fuses, pull out to look at them. GM also has two or so boxes under hoods anymore, have you checked for any of those? Harness plug ins? Squeeze all of them while someone watches the gauges.

Don't know if they still have it but there used to be a voltage regulator that pluged into the back of the dash that controled all the power to gauges. Had one fall out once plowin snow, guess i hit the bank too hard.

Do your dash lights work? If not you might want to check the plug in where the wiring harness connects to the back of the dash. LOL

Check grounds! I've seen Chevys with crazy guages and it was the Battery ground to the fender not making contact. If it's a diesel there aren't many other clues.
