Now that my 49 VAC-11 is finished, except for the paint, I'm ready to get my next tractor. I really like the looks of the SC and DC but need to know a little more about them. What are the main differences, attributes, horsepower, hydraulics, etc.. I want to buy a 49 to match my VAC but may consider other years. Your thoughts greatly appreciated. Thanks Art

The DC has babbit bearings, the SC has shell bearings. Do you know of anyone locally that can pour babbit bearings? The shell bearings for the SC are only available as reconditoned bearings.

Art; I guess the question is what do you want to do with it...The DC has alot more power. If ypu ar going to do a little mowing an SC will do just fine... (I have a DC)

I've got an almost-ready-to-run '44 SC that I will swap for a DC in better condition. ";^)
How's that for a deal? Think of all the money you'll save on gas. I bet "Lazarus" hasn't burnt more than a couple quarts in the past 10 years.

What would you be using the tractors for? Basically the SC is a 2 plow tractor and the DC is a 3 plow unit. When working them hard the DC will use much more fuel. If you are using them for hobby they are both fun to play around with. The 49 DC will have the clutch on the left and the SC is on the right.

DC'S WERE NOTED FOR THEIR FUEL ECONOMY WITH BIG BORE AND LONG STROKE SLOW SPEED ENGINE

Tom, they may have been called economical when compared to other tractors. I'm talking about the SC versus the DC. This is based on having worked both and carrying cans of gas to fuel up at noon and evening when we weren't close to home. As for plowing we liked the DC better cause 3 is faster than 2. As far as riding on them for 12-14 hours a day the SC was far better as we had the Farmall style seat on all our SC's Nver paid any attention to the seat mfg as the Case dealer always got them for us.

Great idea, but it's not like sneaking another gun into the house and claiming that it's your brothers, she's gona figure it out and one at a time she will ignore. I love ole tractors/machinery and have a soft spot for Cases.. The tractors collect dust most of the time, maybe smooth out a couple of acres now and then, but mostly a great hobby. Sounds like the DC will be my choice, I like the bigger slower motors. I appreciate your input and will start the search, Anyone have a complete 49 DC with an eagle hitch for sale? Need good sheet metal,, running or not running, most important it must be all there or reasonabably close to it..

Thanks Again Art Francis

My neighbor still has a 52 DC for sale. It has the eagle hitch and live hydraulics. I overhauled the engine before I sold it to him,so all it needs is a good home and paint job. If your any where near SW Wisconsin you might want to look at this one.

I sent you an e-mail last Sunday, 2/24 regarding the 52 DC which your neighbor has for sale.

Is it still for sale, if so, please advise of location and phone number. I would like to see it.

Thanks for your time.

I am interesting in seeing the tractor you overhauled. Any information connecting me with the owner would be appreciated. I live in Washington County. Where is the tractor located?
Do you have a picture of the tractor and what is the owner asking for it?

I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks for your help.

Case didn't introduce the Eagle Hitch on a DC until 1952. The 1949-51 units had a non-live hydralic lift and older models had mechanical lift. Take a look at the photo adds in this forum and search 'Case'. You can almost always find a DC for sale.
