They are difficult to work on, just as the post below said, everything is always in front of something else when you have to work on them, I just did a clutch job for a fella on a 1212, (basically same tractor), it takes almost double the labor time to do a clutch on these as compared to a AC 190, IH 1066, etc, and the clutches are VERY expensive. This guys clutch completely exploded, but it was most likely caused by having the pto disengaged too long, (if the clutch is disengaged to long, it is holding the pressure plate open, just like a foot clutch, so the whole time the pto is off, the release bearing, clutch fingers and adjusters, etc, are under a lot of stress, thats why there's warning stickers on the fender telling how to run them!) They are a fuel effecient machine, ok power, but like I said, very spendy to fix. I fix all brands of tractors, my opinion, unless its just about free, buy something else. but thats just one mans opinion!!

I've got a clutch diagram in my IT manual if I can find it. Not much to do to them from the outside, real 'challenge' on the inside. The Laycock clutch is all I've ever dealt with first hand. No real problems just some 'awareness issues':

1. If a Case/DB has a seal or gasket and it doesnt leak, something is wrong :-)
2. Case/DB electrical systems were designed by Lucas (who also invented darkness :-))
3. Everything on them is located behind something else.

You will find them good solid tractors with low fuel consumption per hour and a lot of power. I am very partial to them, and a 1210 is my favorite.
