All measurements for the sleeves and crankshaft surfaces are all in spec (thanks for the dimensions, SHeiserman!). I cleaned the pistons up quite a bit. They were stuck in the sleeves, but not too badly. They had some rust caked up above the top compression ring, but most of that came off with a rag. There is one little issue...all the pistons measure somewhere in the 4.358"-4.366". According to the info I got, they are supposed to be 4.341-4.345 in diameter. The diamters don't seem to vary from the bottom of the skirt to just below where the oil ring is supposed to go (see previous post), so it looks like the pistons haven't worn too much. What's could be going on here? How can the pistons get larger in diameter? Another question: anyone have any luck honing out sleeves on a diesel that have had stuck pistons in them? I'm concerned about compression, of course. The sleeve surfaces are pretty smooth now, but I wanted to see what folks had to say.
