What is an 801B with a spun bearing worth? Is it worth fixing if I can do the work myself? I haven't seen the tractor but they are asking $600. Don't know about shape of tires or tin.

All those questions are very important, the sheetmetal alone could be worth more than the price they are asking, especially if the fenders are good. A decent set will bring $400. If the stuff is rustend, bent up, junk, then you better figure the weight times the scrap iron price. Another question. Does it have Case-O-Matic?? If so does it work? If not you might as well forget it unless you have a good parts machine.

I don't know anything about a Case-o-matic. When I go to look at the tractor, how do I tell what it has? Is this transmission good to have or not?

I can tell you now that it's a Case-o-matic. All 801s were. The 700 was the same tractor as the 800, but it, (the 700), had the regular standard transmission - no torque converter. I really like the Case-o-matic. However, I've never had trouble with one either.

Well, it is strictly a matter of opinion. Personally, I like them, but most people will pay more for a tractor without it. Case-0matic was a fluid drive, torque converter, that would override the manual clutch system upon starting a load or when encountering hard going. When they work they are very good, but when they go bad the repairs are prohibitive. Case-O-matic will have a clutch pedal that looks like an accelerator on a car. All they do is run a hydralic valve. They will also have a lever on the rigth side of the steering column for engaging the system.
