Howdy! I dont really know much about Case tractors. The local IH dealer has a 68 Case 730 Gas on its lot. I am looking for a gas tractor about that size, I need one for haying and I am getting tired of having to fight the big diesels starting. Are they good tractors? Hydraulics fast or slow? Did they make decent loader tractors? Were they fairly easy to start in cold weather? This one has a Schwartz WF on it. Let me know of any problems that they had. Thanks alot!

I have 5 730 case tractors, all comfort kings. One of them is gas. Just this past weekend we clean pens and spreaded manure. It was 6 degrees out and started on the second revalution with no block heater or either. They are all very good tractors.

I have a 1961 gas model. It has been a great tractor. Pulls a square hay baler really smooth. I mostly keep a 10,000lb. winch on it to pull out heavy loads. It will move a lot of lbs. Also handy for for a post hole digger. Even digging in rocky ground, the pto works on clutches so not as likely to break something in the tractor,

The 730 is probably the best haying tractor made. It has 4 lower gears from 1 to 4 miles per hour and you can choose the ideal speed for any baling conditions. Will be a good loader tractor, though the hydraulis are not very fast or particularlly powerful. If you do a lot of loader work, you may want to mount an auxilary pump for more volume. The gas tractor will start good in cold weather. Tractor is very strong with the only weak point being the hi/low range change gears. They are not tolerant of shifting while in motion... Gene

Great haying tractor, not the best for loader work. It has a belt driven power steering pump. With heavy loads on the front, the belt slips and it's hard to steer.
