Has anyone ever repowered a Case 600 or 900? I want to put in a 504 in mine. Just wondering if it will bolt up and or what mod.'s will be required? Any help in this matter will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

An exact bolt-in is just the start of your problems if you intend to install a 504. The 504's are designed for direct fuel injection instead of power cells. Also, the 504's have a cross flow heads. (exhaust ports on the left, intake ports on the right) The original 377 in the 600 has both intake and exhaust ports on the left. Unless you're handy at sheet metal work, the 451 from a 1030 would be a better choice. It has 101 horsepower stock and can put out 150 with a turbo.

It qas my understanding the first 930's engines would bolt up in place of the 377 engine.

I pull in Michigan. I was hopping for some better answers. I have been pulling tractors sence 1975. I mainly pull farmalls, but this summer i pulled my 350 Case at or local fair and won my class. I also have this 900 Case diesel. The engine block froze and broke before I bought it.
I have seen 504's in 900's before. I am aware that they will not just bolt in. Was just hoping to get some idea of what was instore for me. I can fabricate & machine pretty much anything, so this won't be a problem. I worked for a Case dealership from 1973-84 as a mechanic and service manager. So I am not green to Case tractors. In the 70's I put a 201 combine engine in a 311b and ran REAL good. Had a 611b with 201 engine, CC & C that dominated the area pulls.
Like I said earlier, I now pull a farmall M . It is to common place for me. Go to a pull and all I pull against is farmall M's. The Case would stir things up a bit. My 900 is a 1957 and weighs under 5000 lbs. with me on it. This could be deadly in lighter classes.

We milled the block to take 1030 sleeves and pistons 425 ci. We have a hard time getting it hooked below 8000# (wheel spin.)We pull against a case with a 504 engine and win alot. The big diesels are not productive much over 500 ci if you don't use a turbo. We are going to pull a 900 Lp next year . i built a 311b with a 188 ci engine, and had good luck pulling it in the 3500# class.I want to build a vac using the 188 that i have.Do you have a guide on getting the drills right, to get a good line up?( engine to transmission)thanks

A 504 will not bolt in. The 6cyl wheatland tractors have a diff bolt pattern. There is a way to make it a 504 email me and will try to help. Thad

you will have to (a) leave out rear main so clutch can get oil or (b) just put 1 quart in clutch housing and keep it checked and changed. I am planning on building a 900 with turbo 504. We will be pulling in turbo class so it won't matter if kept original or not.

I'm running a 600 with a 930 engine and the 15in. over center clutch is dry. Works fine but I have to keep it adjusted really tight. I know of a 1030 that had a 504 and a 400 rear end bolted to one.
