After some wicked awful cold weather, it almost got up to 30 today. There's been times in the past few weeks that it was 50 degrees colder than that.
So I checked the oil, poured in a couple gallons of gas, turned on the switch, pulled the choke and pushed the starter button. Fired and ran on about the third spin over. What a good old gal she is. I didn't even have the battery charger on 'er. Then proceded to split up a little fahrwood.
Oh, it's a '52 VAC-12 for those who don't know her by name. ";^)

My DC3 fires right up but she doesn't want to do any heavy snow moving until she has warmed up and that takes awhile when it is in single digits. She likes her choke for quite awhile :-)

I use my old 1950 V A for only one Thing, Splitting firewood. About November I start it up for the first time since putting it in the barn about the end of March and it always fires right up. I drive it up to my wood splitter which has been sitting in the same spot, outside, for the last 12 years. I hook it to the pto of the V A where the tractor will sit until March. I start it up about every 2 weeks to split wood. Rain or snow, she always starts about the third spin. Can't beat them old Cases for starting in cold weather.

Wish I could report that, Don. Progress is slow these days. More daylight and warmer temps will help to get us motivated again.

Hi Les - my SC has been starting every time. I remember Dad really abusing his SC by letting it sit out in all kind of weather when I was a kid. It didn't bother him. If it would not start with the battery he would just crank it by hand. It always would always start one way or another.
